Polar Lands Latitude and Longitude EffectsThe sun shines for long hours in the summer, and for many fewer hours in the winter because of the tilt of the earth and the location of the Polar Lands (Antarctica and Arctic). Antarctica's cold climate is the result of a combination of factors. As well as the Arctic, Antarctica's high latitude means that sunlight hits the surface at a low angle meaning that the polar land does not receive much sunlight or if it is tilted towards the sun, it can also not have night. Basically, Antarctica has half year day, half year night. Latitude also effects the moisture of the Polar Lands because the sun doesn't heat it up enough and cold air cant hold moisture.
