Grasslands Climate and TemperatureTemperature grasslands are located North of Tropic of Cancer (23.'5 degrees north). Hot summers and cold winters are very distinct. Summer temperatures can be over 31 degrees celsius and winter can be as low as -40 degrees celsius. Typically, they have between 10 and 35 inches of precipitation a year. Much of this occurs in late spring and early summer. Snow often serves as a reservoir of moisture for the beginning of the growing season. Fires and droughts help maintain these grasslands.
